Orlando Pirates Sifiso Myeni has told Goal.com South Africa that hard work is what will earn him a return to the Bafana squad in the near future
Orlando Pirates sensation Sifiso Myeni has told Goal.com that his time to represent Bafana Bafana will come again in future, and he wishes all the final 23-man squad players the best for representing South Africa in the 2013 Afcon this month.
“In the game of football I can only give support to those who made the side and continue staying positive. I still believe that my time to represent the country will come. I know better that perseverance is virtue,” said Myeni.
Myeni who recently joined Orlando Pirates after having had a successful season with Bidvest Wits, stated that although he dreamed of nothing more than participating in the Afcon, at least he can now improve his game.
“The only thing that can secure me a place in the Bafana Bafana squad is hard work and that what I intend doing,” he said.
The 24-year old said he believes that there are still more opportunities ahead of him and he will continue working hard at his club. Myeni’s success in the Premier Soccer League might be one of the things that caught Gordon Igesund's eye. Myeni feels proud to be amongst the players who were shortlisted right until the final stage of selection.
“As much as the ultimate goal for everyone was to be in that 23–man squad, I do feel proud of myself for making it this far.
“The fact that I managed to make it to the last stages, should mean a lot to me. This does not mean that I will not continue to put the extra effort that I have always put,” said Myeni.
