Liberia 2-2 Nigeria: Lone Stars hold Super Eagles in Monrovia thriller
The visitors were held by the Lone Stars who came back late to nick an important draw on Saturday evening
Nigeria were held to a 2-2 draw by Liberia in Saturday's 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in Monrovia. The hosts took the lead early into the encounter through Omega Roberts in the eighth minute.The Super Eagles caame into the game a few moments later through Nosa Igiebor on 14 minutes. Two minutes later Ikechukwu Uche stepped up to the penalty spot and scored Nigeria's second after Victor Moses was brought down.
Nigeria had an opportunity to go ahead before the interval through Emmanuel Emenike but he scoffed his attempt. Both teams were content to kick around in midfield before the game went into the break.
It was the hosts who made use of their opportunity at the restart as Sekou Oliseh profited from a Vincent Enyeama blunder.
Nigeria will host Liberia for the second leg next month in Calabar.
