Kaizer Chiefs yet to decide on Caf participation

Goal can exclusively reveal that Kaizer Chiefs are yet to decide on whether to take part in next year's edition of the Caf Champions League or not.

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) confirmed earlier this week that South Africa have been given four slots in the next edition.

However, AmaKhosi appeared less excited with an insider within the Soweto giants camp revealing that the club will only decide when "the time is right"

"Yes, the club received a letter from the PSL, but that's all for now, because we haven't decided on whether to participate or not. Let's leave that for when the time is right," said the insider.

Chiefs returned to Caf competition this year following their successful 2012/2013 season, but couldn't reach the group stages of either the Champions League or Confederation Cup.

They were criticized for not taking the Confed Cup seriously after losing against Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast in the two-legged match that could have seen them qualify for the group stages.

Bidvest Wits, Orlando Pirates and Sundowns have all expressed their excitement at getting another chance to represent SA against other African opponents. One expects that Chiefs will eventually give in amidst pressure from the PSL.
