By edging out Recreativo of Libolo in day three of the African Champions League, Coton Sport of Garoua takes three points and joins Esperance of Tunis at the top of the group
Sebastian Desabre, manager of Coton Sports had earlier told his players that they had no option but a victory. In this epic encounter, Coton Sport began the match with an offensive game as playmaker Boukama Kaya took control of the midfield.
It took 30 minutes for Yougouda Kada, to open the scoring, after receiving a beautiful ball from Manga Mbah in the far right. Recreativo’s timid reactions led by Ruben Silvio upfront, met stiff resistance from a well placed Coton Sports defense. The first half ended with the scoreline in favour of Coton Sport.

In the second half, Recretivo of Libobo came in with a more positive approach, trying to equalize from the first minute. Unfortunately for them, their surges upfront left an exposed defence which Coton Sport expoited to double the scoreline in the 47thminute, through Mbongo Ewangue.
The Angolan side never gave up, while Coton defended their two goal lead. Eventually, from a corner kick in the 90th minute, Ruben Silvio of Recreativo scored a beautiful header.
The match ended 2-1, sealing a vital victory for Coton Sport of Garoua.
