Andile Jali could be available for Orlando Pirates against AC Leopards on Saturday

The 23-year-old has been struggling with an ankle injury since their previous game against AmaTuks last week Thursday, but Bucs confirm that it is not a serious injury

Orlando Pirates midfielder Andile Jali is expected to be available for selection when Bucs take on AC Leopards in the Caf Champions League opening group match on Saturday.

Jali got a knock during Pirates’ 0-0 draw against AmaTuks last week Thursday, and he played no part during the Sea Robbers’ 5-1 drubbing over Matlama FC in Lesotho on Sunday.

Pirates’ physiotherapist Shiraz Joseph confirmed on the club website that Jali’s injury is not serious, and he could be ready to play on Saturday.

“There is no structural damage on the ankle, so he is fine. The ankle was swollen on Thursday after the match against Tuks and our initial prognosis was that of a serious injury, but fortunately scans revealed otherwise,” said Joseph.

Jali is expected to start training with the rest of the squad in the next three to four days, but he could face a late fitness test if the technical team feels he will be needed against AC Leopards.

“There is nothing serious. It should take him three to four days to get back to normal.” added Joseph.
