Orlando Pirates handed tough draw in Caf Champions League Group Stages

Roger de Sa's charges will face seven time-champions Al Ahly in the group stages of the Caf Champions League
Orlando Pirates face a tough group stage in the Caf Champions League after the draw revealed that Roger de Sa's side will have to face five-time winners Zamalek and seven-time champions Al Ahly in Group A of the competition.

The draw was completed in Cario on Tuesday afternoon, with the competition being split into two separate groups. Teams were drawn according to a three-tier system of seedings with Tunisian club Esperance and Egyptian champions Al Ahly ranked as the highest seeds.

AC Leopards from the Congo were seeded second along with Cameroonian club CotonSport, while Pirates, Zamalek, Recreativo do Libolo and Sewe Sport were seeded third.

Pirates were drawn into group A of the tournament which consists of Al Ahly, Zamalek and AC Leopards. The Buccaneers will play home and away fixtures against all three sides in a bid to qualify for the knock-out stages.

With $1,500,000 being made available for the winners of the tournament, Roger de Sa's side will have to defy the odds in order to qualify for the next round and try to claim the continental prize.
