Bucs head coach Roger De Sa tells Goal.com that winning the Caf Champions League trophy with Pirates is more important to him than winning the PSL title
De Sa revealed that he understands the frustrations of the Bucs fans, but urged them to remain calm because they still have a chance to win the remaining trophies on offer.
“Everyone expects Pirates to win every trophy. It’s unfortunate that there is only two trophies on offer and that is the PSL title and the Caf Champions League,” De Sa tells Goal.com.
“Winning Champions League will be an ultimatum. Not that the league is not important, but I feel that with all the travelling and the challenges in African countries then it will be a great reward for us if we get the ultimate prize,” said De Sa.
The former Bidvest Wits and Santos coach warned his players not to take Zanaco FC for granted, as the two sides will meet in the second leg at the FNB Stadium tonight.
Pirates scored an important away goal two weeks ago, thanks to Ndumiso Mabena strike and De Sa said that could mean nothing if they disrespect the Zambian Champions.
“It is important that we respect our opponents on Saturday. They are a very good side and they can punish us if we not careful. We beat them 1-0 and that clearly shows that it was tough, but if we are going to take them for granted then that away goal will mean nothing,” added De Sa.
