Caf Champions League wrap: From Al Ahly to Kano Pillars

The round of 32 first-leg tie of the Caf Champions League occupied the weekend of Africa with some interesting and surprising results popping up
Kano Pillars 4-1 AC Leopard

Kano Pillars have one foot at the next stage of the competition after walloping AC Leopard of Congo 4-1 in a Caf Champions League first round tie at the famous Sani Abacha Stadium. The first half saw Mustapha Musa scored a double. Manir Ubale and Kabiru Umar scored a goal each in the second half to make it four while Drane Den pulled on back for Leopard.
Zanaco 0-1 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates of South Africa stole a 1-0 win in the first leg of their Caf Champions League clash against Zanaco in Lusaka. It was an early goal from Mabena which helped Pirates to secure a vital away win.
Mochudi Centre Chiefs 0-1 TP Mazembe

TP Mazembe flew to Botswana to defeat Mochudi Centre Chiefs 1-0 in the Caf Champions League first round first leg tie. The visitors registered the first and only goal of the game 10 minutes from full-time through Aly Samata.
AFAD de Djékanou 0-1 Coton Sports

1-0 it ended in favour of Coton Sport of Cameroon against AFAD de Djékanou in Abidjan, the capital of Ivory Coast. Both teams were skeptical in surging forward but in the 64th minute Yourouda bang home the only goal of the game for the visitors.
Recreativo Libolo 2-1 Al-Merreikh

Recreativo Libolo managed a slim 2-1 victory over Al-Merreikh of Sudan in the first leg tie of their Caf Champions League. Al-Merreikh took the lead but Libolo came back strong after recess to turn the deficit around.
Sewe Sports 4-1 Al Hilal

Sewe Sports left no stone unturned after annihilating Sudanese giant Al Hilal 4-1 in Abidjan in the first leg of their Caf Champions league. A brace by Ghana’s Mandela Ocansey in the 51st and 82nd minute, Roger Assale’s first half goal and a goal from Kévin Zougoula threw the stands into roar.  Mohamed Traoré in the 74th minute secured a face saving goal for the Sudanese.
JSM Bejaia 0-0 Asante Kotoko

Asante Kotoko managed a goalless draw with JSM Bejaia in their Caf Champions League first leg round of 32 ties in Algeria. The game saw the Algerians attack the Ghanaians throughout the game but the defense men of Kotoko were very resolute and defended gallantly to avoid any goal. This makes is the first time since 1990 that a Ghanaian side have secured a point in Algeria.
Tusker 1-2 Al Ahly

Egyptian giant Al Ahly beat Tusker 2-1 away in Nairobi to brighten their chance in their elite inter-club competition of the continent. Two goals from Mohamed Barakat sealed the victory for the defending champions while Tusker snatched home a consolation goal seven minute to end proceedings.
Premier de Agosto 0-1 Esperance

Esperance travelled far away to Luanda to clench a vital 1-0 win over Premier de Agosto in their tie. Striker Msakni recorded the only goal of the game for the visitors in the 45th minute.
