Merck has secured the naming rights to the home of German soccer club SV Darmstadt 98.

The pharmaceuticals group has reached a five-year deal, worth an annual €300,000 (US$400,000), with the city of Darmstadt, to put its name to the 19,000-capacity Stadion am Böllenfalltor. The deal also covers the new stadium planned for the city, work on which is expected to begin in 2015.

The venue will now be known as the Merck Stadion am Böllenfalltor.

SV Darmstadt 98 will play their first game in the renamed stadium when they begin their 2. Bundesliga season against SV Sandhausen on 3rd August.
