US soccer team Austin Aztex will join the USL Pro league in 2015.
The Texan club have also confirmed two new investors, with local entreprenuers Bobby Epstein and Paul Thornton joining ATX Soccer, the Aztex’s parent company.
Epstein was one of the key drivers behind Austin securing a Formula One race in 2012.
“By bringing together friends and families, sports unite communities and dissolve boundaries,” Epstein said.
“I’m excited to be a part of taking the Austin Aztex and their championship brand of soccer to the next level.”
The Aztex will be the fourth expansion team in the 2015 USL Pro league, America’s third soccer tier. However, the team is believed to have ambitions of one day joining Major League Soccer, the top level of the game in the United States.
