The Football Association (FA) has confirmed that Anheuser–Busch-owned lager brand Budweiser will not renew its sponsorship of the FA Cup beyond the end of the 2013/14 season.
Budweiser signed a three-year, US$33.75 million deal to become the title sponsor of the tournament, England’s premier domestic cup competition, back in 2011.
Stuart Turner, the FA’s commercial director, commented: “Budweiser has embraced the FA Cup and we’re grateful for their support.
“Next year the FA Cup will move to the BBC’s platforms and we are very excited about its future.”
Iain Newell, Budweiser’s on trade sales director, added: “We are proud of our support for the world’s most prestigious domestic cup competition.
“The partnership has been great for Budweiser, fans and clubs around the UK, and in particular those grassroots clubs who have benefitted from UK£1 million of Budweiser grants through the club futures programme.”
Budweiser has served as the official beer of the Fifa World Cup for the last 25 years.
