Ghana’s top-tier domestic soccer league is preparing to unveil a headline sponsorship deal worth a reported US$10 million.

According to multiple reports in the Ghanaian press, the Ghana Premier League will officially unveil First Capital Plus as a new partner next week.

In a five-year deal with the Ghanaian FA, First Capital Plus, a savings and loans company that became a global bank in August, is set to commit to annual payments of US$2 million for its headline partner rights.

The Ghanaian FA signed a US$2.1 million deal with mobile network operator Glo Mobile in January 2013, but the company is believed to have defaulted several times on payments due to the Ghanaian Premier League from that deal.

In November, the Ghanaian FA signed a three-year deal with another financial institution, uniBank, for sponsorship of the Black Stars national team.

Broadcast across Africa on SuperSport, the 16-team Ghana Premier League is currently in its 55th season.
