Publically-owned television network France Télévisions and the French arm of Eurosport have retained the broadcast rights to the country’s premier domestic knockout soccer competition, the Coupe de France.

The agreement, which runs for four seasons to 2018, includes the rights to both the men’s and women’s cup tournaments and the Division 1 Féminine women’s league.

Eurosport will air 30 Coupe de France matches each season whilst France Télévisions will show no more than one match per round. The live coverage will be supported by a series of highlights and magazine shows.

The value of the agreement was not disclosed but the tender process was forced to enter a second round of bidding after the initial round of offers failed to meet the Fédération Française de Football’s (FFF) reserve price.

FFF president Noël Le Graët commented: “On the side of the FFF, we are delighted with this agreement with the two broadcasters. Reserve prices have not been met on the first day but were the second day. The federation is satisfied with the overall financial result, higher than in previous years.”
