International sports media company MP & Silva will continue to distribute top-tier Brazilian soccer throughout a host of European and Asian countries until 2015.
The extension covers the Campeonato Brasileiro da Série A, Brazil’s top-flight club competition, and the Campeonato Paulista, the premier club competition in the state of São Paulo.
The renewal was struck with Globo, the exclusive distributor of both competitions, and grants MP & Silva distribution rights in France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar.
The package covers all platforms and also includes rights to FootBrazil, a weekly magazine show, and the FootBrazil Highlights Show.
MP & Silva first started distributing Brazilian soccer in 2011 and recently acquired Campeonato Brasileiro rights for the UK until 2015.
Carlo Pozzali, a founding partner MP & Silva, said: “The closer it gets to the Fifa World Cup 2014, everything around Brazilian football gets worldwide attention and appeal. MP & Silva has a profound understanding of the media markets in Europe and Asia and we are glad to use our network to gain increased audiences for the Brazilian football league internationally”.
