Former Telefonica and Telecom Italia executive Jose de Lorenzo Messina has been appointed as the managing director of Brazilian joint venture Kentaro Figer.
The São Paulo-based joint venture was started by soccer rights agencies Kentaro and Figer Group in late 2012. The 52-year-old joins having most recently run his own agency, Unideias. He also spent time as the sales director at the Koch Tavares agency.
Philipp Grothe, the chief executive of the Kentaro Group, said: “We felt it essential that our joint venture in Brazil was headed by an experienced and well-connected Brazilian and in Jose we feel we have found exactly the right man. We intend to grow our business in Brazil based on our core business competencies in event creation, club consultancy, player trading and of course media rights sales.”
