The Freestyle Football Federation has been unveiled as one of the finalists for the best CSR scheme in football at the 2013 Football Business Awards, it was announced today.

The awards ceremony, currently in its second year and held at Chelsea Football Club on November 7th, is the leading awards ceremony celebrating the business of football. ‘We are extremely proud to be nominated for an award in this category. Freeze out Bullying is a programme that has achieved massive success in North America and I hope this recognition will allow it to increase awareness of the sport and embed freestyle football within community development worldwide’ explains Steve Elias, Vice President of the Freestyle Football Federation.

Freeze Out Bullying is a schools initiative that was launched by the North American operation of the Freestyle Football Federation. It reaches schools throughout Canada and the US using the power and attraction of Freestyle Football to educate 10-14 year olds on the dangers of bullying, whilst teaching some impressive skills with the football at the same time.

The Awards will be judged by an elite panel of 32 judges from the sport and business world, including West Ham United Football Club Vice-Chairman Karren Brady, Chelsea Football Club Chairman Bruce Buck and Chief Executive of the League Managers Association Richard Bevan.

Director of the Awards, Simon Burton comments “Business and football are inextricably linked and on pitch performance needs to be matched by commercial achievement and acumen. Football clubs are economic drivers for their communities and football itself is one of the UK’s greatest exports. The quality and diversity of the FBA entries never fails to inspire”.
