English Premier League club Southampton has entered into a “long-term” kit partnership with Adidas.
The German sportswear giant will replace Umbro in the role, with its contract commencing on June 1. Following promotion from the Championship in 2011-12, Southampton finished 14th in its first campaign back in the Premier League last season.
Steven Holland, senior manager of clubs at Adidas, said: “Southampton Football Club is a very welcome addition to our portfolio of clubs. When we first met with them, it was clear to see the plans and ambition the club has for the future both on and off pitch. This was naturally a fantastic opportunity for Adidas to add value to and be an integral part of the journey the club has embarked on.”
Dominic Fawcett, chief commercial officer at Southampton, added: “This is a fantastic time for us to be partnering with Adidas. As our progression as a team, club and business continues we are very excited to be involved with such an innovative and prestigious brand.”
