Caixa Econômica Federal has further enhanced its presence in Brazilian club football by agreeing a one-year deal to become the new main shirt sponsor of Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A club Coritiba.
The agreement with government-owned financial institution Caixa is worth a reported R$6 million (US$2.98 million) to Coritiba and comes just days after the company sealed a similar one-year deal with Flamengo. It means that Caixa now sponsors four Serie A clubs, with the firm also backing Atlético Paranaense and Corinthians.
Caixa’s executive director of marketing and communications, Clauir Luis Santos, said: “We are very happy because Coritiba is within our strategy to be present in some of the most important and biggest clubs in the country. With this partnership we have reached the goal that was outlined in 2012 and we will start the championship with another great football club.”
President of Coritiba, Vilson Ribeiro de Andrade, added: “Not only is the master sponsorship important for the club (financially), but Coritiba had negotiations with four groups and chose Caixa for a number of factors. One of them is a business concept with a number of benefits to our members, our fans and also a line of products with financial possibilities of using credit cards to purchase products inside the stadium with a Coritiba card or cash itself.”
