The Hellenic Football Federation (HFF) has agreed a new partnership with Nike for the sportswear manufacturer to become the official apparel and equipment supplier for the Greece national team.
As part of the deal, Nike will develop a new kit for the national side, which the players will wear for the first time in the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on June 7. Greece, currently placed 13th in FIFA’s world rankings, sits second in UEFA qualification Group G for next year’s World Cup – three points behind leader Bosnia and Herzegovina, with just four games left to play. Nike has replaced Adidas as the HFF’s kit partner.
“Nike is a company that, over time has been identified with impressive international successes by individual athletes and teams alike and is now connected to the national team, the country’s top team,” said HFF president Giorgos Sarris. “I hope this collaboration will be long-lived and I believe it will contribute to the overall advancement of domestic football.”
Nike Greece general manager Kristjan Luha added: “The Greek national team possesses an incredibly rich heritage, passionate fans and a strong history of success within European football. From the national squad through to the youth teams, we will be delivering our most innovative performance products to the best athletes the country has to offer.”
