Soccerex are delighted to confirm that England legend Michael Owen will be speaking on the ‘The Three Lions’ panel at the Soccerex European Forum on 10-11 April, in Manchester.

In one of the stand out sessions at the Forum, Owen will join England Manager Roy Hodgson, Manchester United and England legend Bryan Robson and former England manager Kevin Keegan to help celebrate The FA’s 150th anniversary, the team’s preparations for the 2014 FIFA World CupTM and to relive their amazing careers.

Having announced his retirement from professional football at the end of this season, Michael will be discussing his future within the beautiful game and will give an insight into his plans for the future such as setting up his own management company to help the development of young players.

As one of the brightest stars at the FA’s School of Excellence, Owen was tipped from an early age to have a bright future. He burst onto the scene in 1997, scoring on his debut for Liverpool and winning the PFA Young Player of the Year in the 1997-98 season. It was at the 1998 FIFA World CupTM where Owen announced himself on the world stage, scoring in the 2-1 defeat to Romania before producing one of the most iconic England goals against Argentina, propelling him into stardom and becoming a firm favourite of football fans around the world.

He went on to make a total of 297 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 158 goals, winning one FA Cup, two league cups and one UEFA and Super Cup. After spells at Real Madrid and Newcastle, Owen signed for Manchester United in 2009, becoming an instant favourite by scoring the winning goal in the 4-3 defeat of Manchester City and went on to win the league title in 2010-11 season. He signed for Stoke City on a 12 month deal at the beginning of this season, where he scored his 150th premier league goal, becoming only the 7th player to do so.

Speaking on his involvement at the Forum, Michael Owen said: “I’m looking forward to speaking on the panel alongside Roy, Bryan and Kevin in celebration of the FA’s 150th anniversary. It’s a great chance to meet the elite of the European football business industry as well as catching up with old friends from the wider football community.”

Soccerex CEO Duncan Revie said: “It’s a great honour to welcome Michael to our Forum, as one of England’s greatest ever strikers he is well placed to help celebrate English football. It is also a great opportunity to explore his post playing plans and reflect upon his incredible career.”

The Soccerex European Forum is a two-day event which attracts over 1,600 delegates from the elite of Europe’s football industry to come together to debate, network and do business. This year’s agenda will tackle the key issues shaping European football, including fan engagement, media rights, match fixing, discrimination and addiction, life after football, social media and a selection of special 1-2-1 sessions with Gianni Infantino, David Bernstein, Sir Bobby Charlton and Gary Neville.
