Football Federation Australia (FFA) has sealed a new three-year sponsorship deal with ME Bank.

The agreement will see the company become the official banking partner of the A-League and the FFA’s Grassroots Football Program. FFA, in collaboration with ME Bank and its agency Twenty3 Sport + Entertainment, have also used the partnership to create a new annual award – the ME Bank Green Card for Fairer Play – which is designed to recognise and reward acts of fair play within the A-League community, both on and off the field.

ME Bank’s general manager of marketing and brand, Aimee Suchard-Lowe, said: “It’s exciting to form a long-term partnership with the FFA and the Hyundai A-League which covers both the elite and grassroots aspects of Australian football. Instead of trying to fit our message into an existing asset, we’ve been able to work collaboratively with Twenty3 and FFA to create a new initiative that can assist ME Bank beyond simply logo awareness. This exciting new concept is designed to reinforce ME Bank’s positioning in the Australian banking landscape.”

David Gallop, CEO of FFA, added: “While players are most often judged by their skill, goals, flair and potency, football is also a game that can inspire acts of true sportsmanship and community spirit. While so often moments of Fairer Play go unnoticed, I am very happy to announce the introduction of an award that symbolises one of the best attributes in sport – fair play. With the backing of a fantastic new partner in ME Bank this award will surely become an important feature of our competitive calendar.”
