The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has bolstered its commercial portfolio by agreeing a sponsorship deal with Grupo Bimbo.
The partnership with the Mexican baking giant will run through to August 31, 2014, taking in the Spanish national team’s participation at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and the defence of its title at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Bimbo will have the right to advertise during games played in Spain, along with other promotional and PR benefits. Spain currently appears to be on course to travel to Brazil next year as it sits top of its qualification group. The next opponents for the reigning world and European champion are Finland on Friday and France on March 26.
Jorge Carretero, spokesman for the board of the RFEF, said: “It is a great satisfaction that unites the two entities, two firms with a tremendous universality. We have a renowned brand throughout the world and the concept of health unites us – we always use sport for social integration and their biggest concern is food.”
José Manuel González Guzmán, president and CEO of Bimbo Iberia, added: “We are proud to be part of this team because we share the same values. We also encourage teamwork. Our 1,800 partners will carry this sponsorship with pride. We are proud to now be part of ‘La Roja’.”
