Ivory Coast's Didier Ya Konan to miss Senegal game

It is unlikely the Hanover 96 striker will return to action this year following an ankle injury picked during a league match on Friday

Cote D’Ivoire international Didier Ya Konan is set for a long layoff after sustaining a left ankle sprain during his club Hannover 96's match in Friday’s 1-1 draw against Hertha Berlin in the Bundelsliga.

The 29-year-old went under the knife during the weekend and medical reports from his side indicated he would be sidelined for several months.

This is also bad news for the Cote D’Ivoire national team after coach Sabri Lamouchi included the player in his squad to face Senegal on Saturday, October 12 in Abidjan.

Lamouchi has summoned Malaga midfielder Bobley Anderson as a replacement for Ya Konan, according to the FA.
