Senegal drop Demba Ba for Cote D’Ivoire qualifier

The Teranga Lions will be without the Chelsea striker once more after he was dropped from the team to face the Elephants on October 12

Senegal coach Alain Giresse published his list of players to confront Cote D’Ivoire in the 2014 World Cup qualifying knockout in Abidjan without one-time indispensable forward, Demba Ba.

Giresse has not invited the Chelsea player since June and there's little chance he will return any time soon, following his diminished playing time at Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle’s Papiss Cisse, who captains the outfit, makes a comeback after serving suspension, but Mame Biram Diouf of Hannover is sidelined due to a knee sprain.

The Senegal Football Federation confirmed last weekend it received a sum of 150 million francs (€222,000) from the government for preparations ahead of the October 12 clash, which will include a training workshop in Paris, France beginning later this week.

Both teams locked horns last year in the qualifying knockout phase of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, with the Ivorians winning 6-2 on aggregate.
