The local Leopards have qualified for the 2014 African Nations Championship after defeating Cameroon 2-1 on aggregate in the playoff
The DR Congo have clinched their ticket to Chan 2014, after the Leopards finished off with a 1-1 draw against Cameroon in Lubumbashi on Friday. They had earlier gained a 1-0 win in Garoua on Monday, effectively winning the tie on aggregate.
Patou Ebunga put the home side ahead by the 20th minute but a determined Cameroon side could only claim an equalizer through Tobie Ebah in the 22nd minute, short of overturning the 2-1 deficit.
The Cameroon Football Federation says it is counting on a complaint it lodged on Thursday to Caf against the DR Congo team for using players without passports and licences during the first leg.
Officials of Monday’s game were unable to determine whether the Congolese players are locally based, in accordance with Caf’s requirements for the competition, Cameroonian officials said.
The African Nations Championship will be held next January in South Africa.
