CHAN 2014: DR Congo humble Cameroon in playoff first leg

The Leopards stunned the Indomitable Lions with a lone goal win on Monday in Garoua in the CHAN 2014 qualifying playoff first leg

The local DR Congo national team defeated Cameroon 1-0 at home in Garoua on Monday in the first leg of the 2014 African Nations Championship qualifying playoff of the Central Zone.

Mubele Ndombe scored the Leopards’ goal in the 68th minute to seal a vital win for the visitors ahead of the return leg scheduled for August 30 in Lubumbashi.

However, both sides will be doing without some of their key players who will be involved with their respective clubs in the Caf Champions League and Confederation Cup hostilities by month end.

The winner on aggregate will qualify for the finals set to kick off in South Africa on January 11, 2014.

The African Nations Championship is exclusively reserved for local players.
