thumbnail Hello,

The Frenchman says he will no longer step down as coach of the Sparrow Hawks after meeting with officials in Lome

Togo coach Didier Six made a u-turn on Wednesday, announcing he would remain at his post to contribute to the development of the country’s football.

The 59-year-old former striker had revealed his intention to resign due to a lack of support from the Football Federation. He was summoned to clarify his position on Wednesday in the country’s capital, Lome.

The FA president Gabriel Ameyi confirmed the coach’s decision in a statement released on Thursday, saying that the body has accepted to pay his arrears and fees. This will allow him to turn his attention to young talent in the country.

Togo have been eliminated from the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers. Six will still lead the Sparrow Hawks to their final match in the second round against DR Congo early in Lome next month.

His contract with the Football Federation runs until January 2014.
