The local Panthers have no immediate plans to travel to Cameroon for the Chan 2014 qualifier against the Indomitable Lions on Sunday
After several postponements, the meeting between Cameroon and Gabon in the 2014 African Nations Championship qualifying has been scheduled for Sunday July 28 but may likely face another teaser after officials from Gabon said their team could pull out of the arrangement.
“We still don’t have news from the Gabon team with few days to the game,” said Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso, Cameroon coach.
“We don’t know if they will travel down for the encounter. However, that will not affect our preparation. My team has been working hard for this game.”
Gabon Football Federation (Fegafoot) says it has spent funds earlier set aside for their trip to Cameroon following Caf’s decision to award Gabon victory on paper due to Fifa’s temporary suspension on Cameroon.
Caf rescheduled the match for next Sunday after Fifa pronounced on Tuesday it had lifted the ban on Cameroon.
However, in a statement released on Wednesday, the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) said it received a faxed copy from Fegafoot to Caf demanding that the encounter should be put off once more, because their team cannot not be ready by Sunday.
