The former Ghana player is calling on the Black Stars to remain focused in their game against Lesotho this weekend and forget about mauling them in the first leg in KumasiEx-Ghana international Augustine Ahinful has cautioned the Black Stars not to be complacent going into their crucial World Cup qualifier against Lesotho on Sunday at the Mesaru Stadium.
Ghana need the maximum points to stay in hunt for the sole ticket from the group to make it to the final phase of qualification for Brazil 2014 World Cup.
The four-time Africa champions whitewashed the Crocodiles 7-0 in the first leg played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, and most soccer pundits are predicting an easy win for the Black Stars on Sunday.
However, Ahinful said the team must fully concentrate in getting the results to brighten its chances in qualifying to the next round of the qualification for next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
“Football sometimes is very surprising, so we just have to wait till the day of the match. We have to go with the same approach we did in the Sudan game. Don’t be surprised if they draw the game with us, but I know for a fact that we are going to win the match over them,” he told Goal Ghana.
“We need to approach the match with all seriousness and guard against the fact that Zambia beat them 4-0 and we also maul them 7-0 in the first leg and not be over confidence, but rather focus in winning the match,” Ahinful opined.
