Samuel Eto’o has pulled out of Cameroon’s squad to face Togo on June 9 in the 2014 World Cup qualifier holding in Lome.
The Football Federation announced on Tuesday that the Anzhi Makhachkala forward submitted an injury report to Cameroonian officials in Yaounde and asked to be withdrawn from the list.
He did not take part in their international friendly against Ukraine in Kiev on Sunday, which ended in a goalless draw, but followed the group to Cameroon as they gear up for their trip to Togo.
Cameroon newly appointed coach Volker Finke says he intends to consolidate the team’s lead atop Group I, with six points ahead of Libya (5pts), DR Congo (4pts) and Togo (1pt).
Cameroon will play DR Congo next on June 16 in Kinshasa.
