Cote D’Ivoire drop Didier Drogba once more

The Elephants will be doing without their talismanic captain once again after he was snubbed for the second time in the 2014 World Cup qualifying squad

Cote D’Ivoire coach Sabri Lamouchi published a 26-man squad on Friday ahead of the team’s double fixture against Gambia and Tanzania in the 2014 World Cup qualifying without his captain Didier Drogba.

The French manager earlier said he wanted to see an improvement in the former Chelsea star’s form but despite his contribution to Galatasaray’s success in winning the Turkish Super League, the 35-year-old striker did not receive a call-up.

Jean-Jacques Gosso Gosso, who also plays in Turkey, makes a return to the outfit as well as Romaric of Spanish side Real Zaragoza.

Norwegian born Mathis Bolly of Ivorian descent, who currently plays for German club Fortuna Dusseldorf, is joining the Elephants for the first time as well as Toulouse defender Serge Aurier.

Cote D’Ivoire, who are leaders of Group C with seven points, will face Gambia in Bakau on June 8 and Tanzania in Dar Es Salaam on June 16.
