The Everton striker scored his sixth league goal as Igiebor helped Betis to a draw against town rivals in Spain

Victor Anichebe  scored his sixth league goal on Saturday as Everton beat relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers 2-0 at Goodison Park. Everton are chasing a top four finish and the win moved them to within three points of fifth placed Tottenham.

The Nigerian striker had a good game and capped his performance with Everton’s second goal in the 56th minute after he had struck the post in the 47th. His goal was opportunistic as he diverted Sylvain Distin’s downward header beyond Cesar, in goal for QPR.

He also had shots blocked in the 72nd and in the 89th before he was replaced in added time by Johnny Heitinga. In his 92 minutes on the pitch, he had 58% pass accuracy and won just 22% of his aerial duels from 44 touches. He attempted four shots and completed two dribbles successfully.

Mikel Obi played 63 minutes for Chelsea in their 2-1 loss to Manchester City in Sunday's FA Cup semi final at Wembley. The Nigerian midfielder was replaced by Fernando Torres. Victor Moses was on the bench for all 90 minutes.

Danny Shittu missed out on playing in the FA Cup final on Saturday as Millwall lost 0-2 to Wigan at Wembley.

Nosa Igiebor was the saviour for Real Betis last Friday as the home side dug out a 3-3 draw against neighbours Sevilla. Igiebor came off the bench in the 82nd minute for Paulao with Betis chasing the equaliser.

The midfielder duly answered his coach’s call as his powerful downward header in the 89th minute beat Beto all hands up. The Nigerian midfielder has played a total of 399 minutes with two yellow cards.

Apam Onyekachi was again on the bench for Rennes as they lost 4-2 away to Evian on Saturday at the Parc des Sports. New signing Ejike Uzoenyi was not listed at all. Apam has played eight times all season.

John Utaka was not listed for Montpellier as they were drubbed 4-2 away by Bordeaux on Sunday. Utaka has played 26 league games and scored five goals.

Brown Ideye got back on the scorers' sheet on Saturday as he scored the goal that lifted Dynamo Kiev over Karpaty though they stay third on the league table.

The Nigerian had gone five games without a goal after returning from the Nations Cup. He scored in the 64th minute off a pass from Miguel Veloso. That was Ideye’s 14th league goal and his last goal in the league was against Hoverla last November. He was substituted in added time by Andriy Tsurikov.

Ideye was the only Nigerian on display as  Lukman Haruna was dropped from the squad while Taye Taiwo was on the bench for all 90 minutes.

Super Eagles call-up Michael Babatunde came on from the bench for Kryvbas in the 2-0 win over Tavriya on Saturday. The 20-year old midfielder has played nine times in the league this season but he is yet to score.

Abayomi Seun started for Volyn against Illichivets on Friday but Volyn lost 2-0 at home to stay 13th on the league table.

Seun was substituted by Ramon Lopes in the 70th minute as the home side pushed for an equaliser but Illichivets scored a second on 72 minutes to confine Volyn to their 12th defeat.

Seun has scored one league goal this season, that was last October against Arsenal Kyiv.

Sidney Sam started for Bayer Leverkusen in their 2-2 away draw against Schalke on Saturday. It was a good result that keeps Leverkusen in the third Champions League place while Schalke remain in fourth position with five games left in the season.

Chinedu Obasi has undergone an operation so is out for the remainder of the season. Leon Balogun played all 90 minutes as Fortuna Düsseldorf held Werder Bremen to a 2-2 draw that has left the two teams in a precarious situation on the league table. Düsseldorf are three points above Augsburg, who sit in 16th place with 27 points while Bremen are in 14th position with 32 points.
Elderson Echiejilehelped Braga win the domestic Cup on Saturday as they beat favourites, Porto 1-0. Echiejile played all 90 minutes of the League Cup win and got a yellow card in the 36th minute.

Porto had beaten Braga 3-1 in the league last Monday but the under-dogs got their revenge in the best possible way. This is the Nigerian defender's first club trophy following on from his Nations Cup triumph with the Eagles in February.

Efe Ambrose played all 90 minutes for Celtic in their 4-3 win over Dundee United on Sunday in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

The Nigerian defender who joined the Glasgow giants this season has already won the Nations Cup with the Super Eagles and his team is now on course for a domestic double as they are almost guaranteed a league win.

Ambrose did not get on the score sheet but he bravely blocked Mark Millar´s stinging shot in the eighth minute which would have seen Dundee go ahead on the day. Celtic will play the final against Hibernian on Sunday, May 26

Standard Liege continued their good form in the playoffs as they came from behind on Friday to beat Zulte-Waregem 4-3 away with Imoh Ezekiel scoring the vital fourth goal. The 19-year old has now scored 15 league goals with seven matches to end the Jupiler League.

Ezekiel came off the bench in the 63rd minute to replace Michy Batshuayi and scored the winning goal with a tap in at the back post in the 79th minute.

Standard have a great chance of making the Champions League but they will need a good result against Genk at home on Tuesday.
