Five African players up for award in Belgium

Five African internationals are set to vie for the best African Footballer award of the season on May 13th in Belgium
The quintet are Gambia’s Ebrahima Sawaneh, DR Congo’s Dieumerc Mbokani, Nigeria’s Imoh Ezekiel, Chiekhou Kouyateh and Mbaye Leye –both Senegalese –are nominated for their sterling performances in the Belgian Pro League.

Striker Mbokani bagged seventeen league goals to help title-chasing Anderlecht flourish this season. Close contender Gambian-born Sawaneh marched Mbokani’s goal feat and is the main reason for OH Leuven avoiding the drop.

The Dinner-like event scheduled for May 13th, is being staged by a non-profit organization promoting African culture called Ebony Shoe as part of a celebration marking 22 years of existence.
