thumbnail Hello,

Goal.com can reveal that Serie A’s Chievo Verona are close to completing the signature of Gambia striker Ali Sowe

Youngster Ali Sowe caught the eye of Chievo’s scouts during an international U-19 tournament staged in Umbria, Italy. At the time he was with the Gambian junior team in May last year.

Gamtel, his Gambian domestic club were previously close to agreeing terms with the struggling Serie A outfit in September 2012, but the clubs asking price put talks on hold until recently.

Now the winger’s latest move is being delayed by an international transfer certificate, but once that has gone through then the move should go ahead.

Talking to Goal.com Gamtel club president Kebba Touray said, “We are waiting on the FA [Gambia Football Federation] for clearance."

The player is currently training with the club ahead of the completion of his contract. Sowe was on the radar of Nigerian Professional League club Enugu Rangers after he helped Gamtel finish runners up in the WAFU club tournament in 2012.

Sowe made his senior team debut for Gambia during the Scorpions second leg match with the Desert Foxes of Algeria for the 2013 Afcon qualifiers.
