The on-loan Arsenal midfielder was introduced into the game in the 67th minute and steadily won the heart of the teeming home crowd.
Frimpong, who represented England at the Under-16 and 17 levels before switching allegiance to Ghana, was optimistic he made the right choice after making his Ghana bow in Kumasi.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for me,” he said after the match. “I made my feeling clear I wanted to play for Ghana and the coach gave me this opportunity.”
“It is a great day for my family and for me and it’s a day I would cherish for the rest of my life.”
Frimpong added: “After beating Sudan, we have a great chance. We just have to continue working hard and see how it goes. We want to go to Brazil.”
