The Barcelona midfielder was dispossessed of his passport and other valuable items in Yaounde after the Cameroon-Cape Verde bitter faceoff last weekend
Cameroon international Alex Song was a victim of robbery in Yaounde after the weekend’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between his side and Cape Verde that ended on a 3-2 aggregate in favour of the visitors.
Reports in the local media say the Barcelona midfielder’s passport and other personal effects were stolen by burglars who had access to his residence in the country’s commercial capital.
Barca have confirmed the player’s delayed return to Spain following issues with his passport.
Other sources say the former Arsenal player forgot the document in Colombia after the Indomitable Lions’ 3-0 loss to the Los Cafeteros in a friendly match on Tuesday.
However, a source close to the player told Football365.fr on Thursday that the French embassy in Yaounde had delivered a provisional travel document to Song with which he travelled to Europe on Wednesday evening.
