England-Brazil Betting Preview: Expect drama until the very end at Wembley

England-Brazil Betting Preview: Expect drama until the very end at Wembley

Latest Del Piero seals Sydney FC stay Previous

The high-profile friendly marks a milestone for both sides, as Luiz Felipe Scolari begins his second spell in charge of the visitors. Al Hain-Cole is backing at least one late goal

The FA’s 150th anniversary celebrations take on a carnival atmosphere on Wednesday, as guests of honour Brazil travel to Wembley to face England.

The world’s most emblematic football nation seem like a fitting opponent for the sport’s joint-oldest national team, and the friendly also represents new coach Luiz Felipe Scolari’s first game in charge of the Selecao in over a decade.

Roy Hodgson has called up a strong squad for the high-profile encounter, but his side are outsiders at 2/1 (3.00) with Bet365 to mark the occasion with a victory.

Just two defeats in the last 20 matches was enough for Mano Menezes to lose his job as Brazil coach, and his successor is available at 11/8 (2.38) to begin his tenure with a win in this game.

The last two exhibition matches between these two sides in London have resulted in 1-1 draws, and you can get odds of 9/4 (3.25) on them sharing the spoils once again this time.

The previous Three Lions friendly match will be remembered for a spectacular Zlatan Ibrahimovic overhead in the dying minutes against Sweden, and that goal should serve as a warning for any fans thinking of leaving the stadium early and also be a pointer for eagle-eyed punters.

Hodgson’s men have made a habit of providing late drama recently, with every one of their games since Euro 2012 featuring goals scored within the last 20 minutes.

A bet on someone to hit the back of the net after the 73rd minute would have paid out in five of the hosts’ last six fixtures, and eight of their opponents’ last nine,  so is certainly not to be missed at generous 5/6 (1.83) odds.

While golden boy Neymar and the recalled Ronaldinho are sure to steal the limelight for the South American guests, the brute force of Hulk may be even more effective than that pair’s samba style.

The Zenit St Petersburg striker has scored six goals in his last eight appearances for the national team, and is therefore great value at 15/8 (2.88) to score anytime on Wednesday.
