JD's Betting Blog: Make the draw your friend, not your enemy

JD's Betting Blog: Make the draw your friend, not your enemy

Latest Betting: Two Money Back Specials for Manchester City-Chelsea Previous

JD believes punters should give more consideration to backing outcomes which often keep the draw onside, he explains why and has two weekend tips

It was a solid and profitable week and the aim is to finish the month as strong as possible.  We have started this week with an 11.10 (2.10) selection winning and the weekend seems to have plenty of opportunities.

It has been a cold start to the year in many countries across Europe and that can affect the number of goals in matches, so be aware of that in your betting.

Make friends with the draw

Bookmakers love draws in matches as many punters simply do not bet on that outcome. People like to bet on positive, definitive outcomes and many shy away from draws despite that outcome usually being at attractive odds.

Thousands of punters this weekend will lose bets and have accumulators busted due to draws and last minute equalisers. We have all been there.

My advice is try cover that outcome as often as possible in your strategy. You can back it in the double chance market, on a draw no bet basis or on the asian handicaps.

It means you are covering two out of three possible outcomes in a football match and it gives you an edge, especially if you can identify the best prices and opportunities to use this strategy. Instead of the draw being your enemy make friends with it and have it on your side, not the side of the bookmaker.

Weekend Tips

Looking ahead to the weekend, Catania have an excellent home record this season in Sicily and that can continue at home to Fiorentina this weekend.

The Sicilians are having an outstanding season and they can be backed on a draw no bet basis at 11/10 (2.10) with Paddy Power.

Bayern Munich travel to Stuttgart in the game of the weekend in the Bundesliga. They are short at 4/9 (1.45) but can be backed to score in both halves at evens (2.0) with Paddy Power, which makes for more appealing reading.
