Real Zaragoza - Real Betis Betting Preview: Why you should back an away victory

Real Zaragoza - Real Betis Betting Preview: Why you should back an away victory

Latest Ganso: I need to be great like before Previous

With Betis boasting one of the best away records in the division, our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides believes a Zaragoza win looks unlikely

La Liga's first clash of 2013 sees Betis travel to Zaragoza with both teams having in some part over-achieved in the opening half of the season.

After a miraculous escape from relegation on the final day of the previous campaign, the home side will be delighted with the mid-table position of 12th, while Betis' exciting style of football has seen them climb to fifth and left the side from Seville realistically contemplating a return to European competition.

Despite back to back defeats in their previous two league games at La Romareda, Marathonbet price Zaragoza as the clear favourites at 27/20 (2.35), with the visitors offered at 9/4 (3.25) and the draw available at 12/5 (3.40).

Yet the wise money should be invested in backing against Zaragoza and the price of 13/20 (1.65) for a draw or win for Betis looks big enough to take.

The Verdiblancos have been in excellent away form of late, winning three of their last four matches on the road, scoring nine goals in the process. Indeed only runaway leaders Barcelona have notched more than Betis' five away wins so far this season, while only the Catalans have lost fewer away games than Pepe Mel's side.

Confident punters will look at the 9/4 (3.25) offered for a Betis win and believe it to be well worthy of investment, yet perhaps it is more appropriate for a small value bet. Zaragoza have been a difficult side to judge so far this season, capable of excellent performances and woeful capitulations in equal measure.

They could be capable of holding the visitors to a draw, so for that reason the best bet would seem to be backing a draw or Betis win at 13/20 (1.65) which should at least see punters make some profit.
