After disappointing defeats at home in their last two outings, Dean Smith's side will be hoping for victory over Micky Adams' men. Willie Duncan is backing a high scoring game
The Saddlers have been in indifferent form throughout the season so far but are still considered as 13/10 (2.30) favourites with William Hill to take victory when they face Micky Adams’ men.
Port Vale are flying in League Two, having amassed an impressive 23 points from 11 league fixtures so far this term to sit just three points adrift of league leaders Gillingham and, despite facing a step up in class here, it seems unlikely that Vale will be intimidated, having knocked out League One leaders Tranmere Rovers in the last round.
Micky Adams’ men are chalked up at 23/10 (3.30) with William Hill to win inside 90 minutes while the same firm rate the draw as a 21/10 (3.10) chance.
Both teams have scored in each of Wallsall’s last six fixtures while Port Vale have netted an impressive 25 goals in their 11 league matches so it is no surprise to see William Hill offering just 13/20 (1.65) for both teams to hit the net on Tuesday evening.
Better value, perhaps, may be the 4/5 (1.80) quote from William Hill for three or more goals to be scored when these two sides meet – a price that carries considerable appeal considering that matches involving both sides have been laden with goals this term.
George Bowerman, Walsall’s 20-year-old striker, has been in excellent form in front of goal so far this term, having netted six times in 11 appearances for the Saddlers and he can be backed at a chunky 9/2 (5.50) with William Hill to score first in this game.
Port Vale’s hopes of an upset may well rest with in-form striker Tom Pope. The former Crewe Alexandra man, who has scored 11 goals in 11 matches so far this season, is chalked up at 11/2 (6.50) with William Hill to bag the opener.
Pope hit a fine double against Exeter City at the weekend and there is no doubt that the 11/2 (6.50) quote for him to net the opener represents outstanding value.
