  • So United are just about still in the FA Cup this season. Van Persie only needed one chance, but West ham deserve enormous credit for their dogged performance this afternoon. Sam Allardyce will undoubtedly feel as though his side should have won. Thanks for sticking with me today, keep your eyes peeled on Goal.com for all the reaction to this game and more!
  • 90' + 5'
FULL-TIME West Ham 2-2 Manchester United
  • 90' + 4'
What a waste! It looks like this will be Manchester United's first game of the season that ends in a draw. A corner from the right is kept alive by the visitors and Rafael feeds Valencia in the right channel. He blasts the ball well over though, when he should have pinged it across goal.
  • 90' + 3'
Agonising for Manchester United, great build-up play on the right ends with the ball at Kagawa's feet just inside the right-hand side of the box. The Japan international opts to cross rather than shoot, but the ball somehow ends up going through everyone.
  • 90' + 1'
    Goal Robin van Persie
GOAL!!! It's Van Persie to the rescue! Giggs turns defence into attack with a pin-pojnt 60-yard pass to the Dutchman, he takes a touch past Tomkins and slots through Jaaskelainen's legs with his right foot from 15 yards out. Heartbreak for the Hammers.
  • 90'
Giggs misses! Patient stuff from United as they build from the back. Rafael suddenly launches a ball into the box which Giggs gets on the end of but is header from eight yards is poorly place, going high and wide.
  • 88'
Chance to settle it for the hosts! West Ham break up a United attack and keep the ball brilliantly, eventually working it to Jarvis. His cross from the left is headed back across goal by Taylor, but Cole can only bundle the ball wide from inside the six-yard box.
  • 86'
United have bodies in the box as Kagawa finds Valencia on the right wing. The Ecuador man bursts past Jarvis, but his cross is far too strong, drifting over everyone and out for a goal kick.
  • 84'
The delivery is flicked on at the near post, but cleared as far as Collison at the far post, but his crashing effort is well over the bar.
  • 83'
Vidic picks up a stupid booking. After tripping Jarvis, giving away a free kick, the Serbian smashes the ball into the crowd. It's been a poor game for the United captain.
  • 82'
    Yellow Card Nemanja Vidic
  • 82'
West Ham tentatively attack with Jarvis running through the middle before finding Taylor wide left. He drills the ball across goal, but it's too close to De Gea, who easily pouches.
  • 81'
Valencia forces a corner from Potts and Van Persie's deep delivery is headed behind at the other end of the box by Demel. Giggs quickly finds Buttner but Carlton Cole rises and powerfully heads away this time.
  • 80'
Manchester United have just 10 minutes to save their FA Cup season. If they fail to score it will be only the second time they have been eliminated in the third round under Sir Alex Ferguson!
  • 78'
Giggs is on for Rafael, while Joe Cole is brought off to a standing ovation, to be replaced by Matt Taylor.
  • 77'
    Substitution Chris Smalling Ryan Giggs
  • 77'

  • 77'
United have the ball in good territory, but Valencia finds Van Persie on the right wing and the Dutchman hits a cross over everyone in the middle and out for a goal kick.
  • 75'
West Ham have brought fresh legs on in midfield with Noble replacing Diarra. United are set to introduce experienced legs to their engine room, with Giggs stripped and ready to come on.
  • 72'
    Substitution Alou Diarra Mark Noble
  • 72'
Chance! Van Persie twists and turns in the area before feeding Buttner on the left. His first-time cross is clipped towards Welbeck, who rises above Tomkins but guides his header over the bar from 4 yards.
  • 71'
West Ham not settling for a one-goal win. First, Jarvis skins Buttner before whipping a good ball in that Smalling clears well, then Potts gets forward from left-back exchanging passes with Joe Cole, but just running the ball out of play before squeezing a cross in.
  • 69'
Buttner takes a corner from the left and Van Persie's first touch is a flick goalwards that goes wide of the near post.

  • 64'
Robin van Persie is warming up and will be on the pitch very shortly. Antonio Valencia will also be joining the Dutchman.
  • 62'
The Red Devils have been behind in a whopping 17 matches so far this season, although they have turned most of them around to grab a result, can they do so again here?
  • 60'
Substitution Ricardo Vaz Te Matthew Jarvis
  • 59'
    Goal James Collins
GOALL!!! Joe Cole to Collins again!! Cole works some good space on the left wing and whips a ball in towards the Welshman, who is unmarked. Collins' header is again perfectly placed, and he has scored his first and second for the hosts in one game!
  • 58'
De Gea picks out Welbeck on the left and United immediately counter. The Englishman drives forward and picks out Kagawa in the box, but the Japanese player's shot is charged down by Tomkins. Great defending.
  • 57'
Good goalkeeping from De Gea denies Carlton Cole! Joe Cole bursts down the right and looks to pick out his namesake, but the Spaniard does magnificently to pluck the ball out the air from the striker's header.
  • 55'
The tempo has dropped somewhat from the game. United are keeping hold of the ball, and look keen to avoid being caught on the break. West ham remain tenacious and dogged in defence, making it hard for the Premier League table-toppers.
  • 52'
United prodding and probing in wide areas. Eventually Smalling swings the ball in from the right, and Welbeck tries to flick the ball in on the turn, but it goes wide.
  • 50'
Vidic fouls Carlton Cole to give the Hammers a free kick that Tomkins nods into the danger area, but De Gea is sharp and snaffles the ball.
  • 48'
Great determination from Welbeck to keep the ball as he charges into the box. He works ever so hard to nudge the ball to Rafael, who switches it to Cleverley first time. The England man's effort is high and wide as he looks to curl it to the far corner again from the edge of the area.
  • 47'
United have an early effort, but from a long way out. Rafael's effort from 30 yards knocks over Collins as he blocks it, but Jaaskleainen is untroubled.
  • 46'
Very early chance for the Hosts who get straight on the attack. Joe Cole sends his shot wide from the edge of the box.
  • 46'
Off we go for the second half! West Ham kick us off.

  • 45' + 3'
HALF-TIME West Ham 1-1 Manchester United
  • 45' + 1'
Close for the hosts. Carlton Cole AGAIN gets the better of Vidic, this time on the left, shoving the Serb off the ball before cutting the ball into the area, but he manages to find the gap between Joe Cole and Nolan. Chance blown.
  • 45'
United look to sweep through the Hammers' defence, with Welbeck carrying the ball towards goal before looking to prod the ball through to Chicharito, but Collins slides in to intercept the ball brilliantly.
  • 43'
Long free kick punted into the Manchester United penalty area. Carlton Cole again distracts Vidic, and Nolan nudges the ball to Vaz Te on the edge of the area but the Portuguese attacker's volley is wild and ends up well wide of goal.
  • 42'
Play has come to a temporary halt so that Vaz Te can tie his laces back up. Modern football eh?
  • 40'
Scholes is walking a tightrope. The experienced midfielder gives away another free kick (he's already on a yellow) but Collison's delivery is poor and easily cleared. The Hammers recover the ball and Carlton Cole's flick on finds Tomkins on the left but the defender can't make anything happen.
  • 38'
Jack Collison becomes the first West Ham player to go into the referee's book, for a late trip on Rafael.
  • 37'
    Yellow Card Jack Collison
  • 36'
Collison's delivery is headed up and then out to Welbeck on the left wing, who zooms down the flank before cutting into the box and driving an effort that Jaaskelainen palms out into the area, with Potts on hand to smash the ball away.
  • 35'
Carlton Cole is doing some fine work up front on his own and bursts down the right before winning a corner off Vidic.
  • 34'
Scholes drifts a lovely ball into Welbeck who takes the ball on the chest to lay it to Chicharito. The Mexican decides to attempt a volley from fully 30 yards that he gets all wrong, and it sails wide.
  • 33'
Free kick on the right wing that Joe Cole sends to the back post. Tomkins rises above Smalling, but his header on the stretch goes wide.
  • 32'
Penalty shout for the hosts as Nolan goes down under Vidic's challenge in the box with both players lining up a header. Nothing given, but decisions have been given for less.
  • 31'
Joe Cole looks as energised as any of the West Ham players after the goal. He pops up on the right and skins Buttner, but Evans heads his cross away.
  • 30'
Greg Stobart's take on the opening half-hour he has seen at Upton Park: "The Hammers made it far too easy for Manchester United - and Paul Scholes in particular - to dominate the first 25 minutes of the games but now we’ve got a proper cup atmosphere here."
  • 29'
The home fans are getting a bit louder now. Alou Diarra robs Kagawa in midfield and pushes forward before launching a 35-yarder well over the bar.
  • 27'
    Goal James Collins
GOALL!!! West Ham are level! A free kick from the right is only partially cleared, with Vaz Te picking the ball up on the left and finding Joe Cole. The winger's cross into the area finds Collins, who flicks a perfect header past De Gea. Manchester United's lead lasts less than five minutes!
  • 25'
Joe Cole dusts himself down and drifts the free kick into the box towards Vaz Te, who gets his header on target, but it has no power and De Gea saves easily.
  • 24'
Immediate chance for West Ham as Joe Cole dribbles infield. He is felled by Scholes, giving West Ham a free kick 25 yards out, with Scholes also becoming the first player to be booked this evening.
  • 23'
    Yellow Card Paul Scholes
  • 23'
    Goal Tom Cleverley
GOALL!!! Tom Cleverley gives Manchester United the lead. United sweep down the right flank through Chicharito and Rafael, with the Mexican sending a ball right across the area that finds Cleverley unmarked on the left, and the England international hits the ball first time, and past Jaaskelainen.
  • 22'
The ball is hooked back into the area, and Vidic's header is weak. Diarra nods the loose ball to Cole, who controls and flicks the ball to Nolan, who has a great chance in the area! But is offside!
  • 21'
Better work from Demel in attack. He gets on the end of Joe Cole's deflected shot on the right and chips the ball over Buttner, looking to run on to it. The Dutchman just manages to poke the ball behind for a corner, which is easily cleared.
  • 20'
Off the line again! Carrick whips the ball into the area and Vidic rises highest to plant an effort into the far corner, but Potts is on hand and clears on the post.
  • 19'
Buttner drifts a poor effort in but a lack of communication between Demel and Jaaskelainen results in the Ivorian needlessly conceding a corner.
  • 18'
Rafael drifts inside before looking to burst through the middle of midfield, he darts past Diarra but is fouled by the Frenchman and Manchester United have a free kick in a good position 40 yards from goal.
  • 17'
Nolan does well to pursue a ball that looks to be heading out for a throw-in. He whips a devilish ball in from the left that is flicked on, but eventually cleared. The hosts are now well on top, but the crowd are yet to fully get behind them.
  • 15'
Mayhem in the box again as a long free kick towards Carlton Cole sees the No.9 cause problems for Vidic again. The big striker misses the ball but does enough to allow it to run for Nolan, who just can't get a touch on the ball inside the six-yard box and it bobbles wide.
  • 13'
The hosts are really growing in confidence. Collison nips the ball away from Scholes and drives through midfield, but the Welshman's left-footed effort from 30 yards is high and wide.
  • 12'
Off the line! The delivery from Collison is met by Diarra, who nods the ball into the ground, but Scholes is on hand to scramble the ball away from goal. Very close for the Hammers.
  • 11'
First glimmer of an attack for West Ham. Carlton Cole holds the ball up and finds Demel on the right. The Ivorian drives towards the box, but his cross is over the top of everyone. Teenage full-back Dan Potts wins a corner...
  • 9'
CLOSE! Best move of the game so far. Scholes picks out Smalling on the right wing with a pearler of a 45-yard pass. The right-back knocks the ball across goal first time but Chicharito is inches away from making contact on the slide.
  • 7'
The pattern for the game has been set very early on. Manchester United will be keeping the ball and looking to work it through the West Ham defences, although Sam Allardyce's side are holding firm, and working tenaciously to stay in the game.
  • 4'
West Ham look to counter. Collison hoofs the ball towards Carlton Cole, who runs down Vidic, the Serb clips one clearance straight in the air and eventually works the ball to De Gea. Shaky from the skipper, though.
  • 2'
Good early work from the Red Devils, who knock the ball around midfield, edging closer to goal before Cleverley looks to slip Chicharito through, but Jaaskelainen is quickly off his line and smothers the ball.
  • 1'
