SuperSport United are aiming to put their inconsistent league form behind them when they face Moroka Swallows on Saturday evening in the Nedbank Cupround of 32 tie.

Gavin Hunt’s team has struggled to win back-to-back games all season and will target the Nedbank Cup as their last attempt to win some kind of silverware in 2013.

Swallows have also been perennial strugglers this season, piling the pressure on the shoulders of Zeca Marques, who has failed to inspire his team during their PSL campaign. The Nedbank Cup will allow his side an opportunity to build some momentum as the second half of the season continues.

Injured SuperSport United midfielder George Maluleka is wary of the Dube Bird’s attacking threat, which is spearheaded by Siyabonga Nomvethe, Lerato Chabangu and Katlego Mashego.

“Swallows are going to come and try a win, you never know what is going to happen in the cup, it’s a different ball game all together,” Maluleka said on the eve of the match.

SuperSport secured another draw against AmaZulu in their previous match, an all too familiar sight for Gavin Hunt’s men this season. But Maluleka believes the side will put their inconsistency behind them come Saturday.

“The guys have been doing well, we were unfortunate not to bag all three points against AmaZulu, but the team will be ready and motivated to win on Saturday,” he said.

Moroka Swallows has not played to their potential this season and were denied three points in their last outing against Pretoria University, after AmaTuks scored a stoppage time equaliser.

Captain Lefa Tsutsulupa believes his side has the capability to defeat SuperSport on Saturday and is backing the form of Nomvethe to carry them through against Matsatsantsa .

“We are going to play positively and try and score goals, it’s a once off game and you never know what is going to happen in the cup,” said Tsutsulupa.

“This is a must-win game so there'll be no holding back. We will go all out and make sure we get to the next round.

"I think it's important for us to win so that we start winning in the league, too. A win against SuperSport will boost our self-belief and we can take this to the league as well.”

  • SuperSport United claimed the lucrative Nedbank Cup in 2012 by beating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 in the final.

  • Moroka Swallows lost 3-1 against SuperSport in their previous clash this season.

  • Matsatsantsa has struggled to win games this season with 12 draws out of 18 games so far.

  • The Dube Birds sit on 12th position in the PSL, while SuperSport United find themselves in 10th.

  • Moroka Swallows have yet to win a game in 2013, follwing two draws against Ajax Cape Town and Pretoria University.

  • SuperSport United won their opening CAF Champions League game against Don Bosco on Sunday, but could not find victory against AmaZulu with another league 0-0 draw the result.
