SuperSport United - BidVest Wits Preview: SuperSport protect unbeaten start against Wits

BidVest Wits are next to test Matsatsantsa in key league game for both sides

SuperSport United will have their unbeaten start to the 2012/13 Absa Premiership season tested when they host in-form BidVest Wits at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Along with league leaders Kaizer Chiefs, Matsatsantsa are the only other remaining unbeaten side in the top-flight, yet they still find themselves languishing in mid-table.

Six draws in their seven matches have left them languishing in mid-table though, a frustrating run for coach Gavin Hunt during which time his side have dominated matches, but failed to find the killer instinct.

The fact that they have already been involved in five 0-0 draws this season tells the story of their troubles – they have yet to find a striker who will hit the back of the net on a regular basis.

"To be fair, we have not hit our straps this season in the league," Hunt says. "We have had six draws ... that shows we have no form, although we also haven't looked like being beaten much.

"The problem is that a lot of the players have not put their hands up this season, and that's why we have made a lot of changes.
I don't like a big squad of players, but this year we have a big squad. Sometimes big squads cause you problems."

Wits midfielder Matthew Pattison says the squad is on a high after their Telkom Knockout victory over Kaizer Chiefs last Friday.

But he says they are determined to challenge for league honours this season too and that means matches like SuperSport away are vital for them.

“Our last win was against Chiefs and fair enough we have enjoyed it,” he told his club’s website. “But now we have to move on and concentrate on SuperSport now because the win against Chiefs means nothing if we get beaten by them. The league is our bread and butter and we need to win games in the league.”
