Celtic have to get back down to earth after their Cup celebrations, as they go back to league action against SuperSport
Bloemfontein Celtic will find it difficult to return to the routine of league action on Tuesday after their cup success at the weekend but if they are to fulfill coach Clinton Larsen’s new ambitions they need to find immediate focus.
Larsen has set his club the task now of becoming championship contenders after Celtic won a rare piece of silverware by beating Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in the Telkom Knockout final in Durban on Saturday night.
Celtic had previously set themselves the target of a piece of silverware this season but have now achieved it with less than half of the campaign gone and have had to reset their sights.
Larsen says they must now turn their attention to the league, starting with the away match at SuperSport United in Atteridgeville on Tuesday.
Celtic go up against the draw kings of the league, who have tied an extraordinary 10 of their 12 league games to date.
Seven of the last 16 games between the two clubs have also been drawn, a close to 50 percent tally.
Celtic will go into the game three points ahead of their hoists, who are 11th in the standings to Celtic’s eighth spot. An away win for Celtic, who beat SuperSport 1-0 away last season, could lift them as high as fifth pace.SuperSport will be desperate to add to just their single win in the league this season, which has left their coach Gavin Hunt bewildered and dissatisfied.
