The defeat sees Olympiacos slip down into the Europa League, while Arsenal will find out who they will face in the knockout stage in next Monday's draw. It has been a pleasure to bring you all the action from Athens tonight, where a mature performance from the visitors has seen them progress from Group F, despite the odds being stacked against them. Until next time, thank you and goodbye!
It really was a fantastic performance from Wenger's men, who - despite being hit hard by injuries to key players - never looked like they were going to lose tonight.
FULL-TIME! Arsenal have done it! A 3-0 victory over Olympiacos has seen them complete a turn-around that looked so unlikely a matter of weeks ago. They are into the next round of the Champions League once again!
C. Chambers
O. Giroud
Arsenal
90' + 2' Arsenal's final change sees man of the match Giroud make way for Callum Chambers. The Frenchman has now netted 10 in his last 12 matches, and his first Arsenal hat-trick has put them into the knock-out stages of the Champions League.
A. Oxlade-Chamberlain
J. Campbell
Arsenal
90' + 1' We're into the first of four minutes of added time now, as Joel Campbell leaves the field to a standing ovation from both sets of fans. He has been outstanding tonight and is definitely deserving of the praise. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlian is his replacement.
89' CLOSE! Good work from Olympiacos, as Elabdellaoui loops a header towards goal, which Cech has to tip over the bar after originally thinking it would sail out of play.
A. Finnbogason
F. Pardo
Olympiakos Piraeus
86' A final change now for the hosts, as Pardo - who has been a real threat down the left - is replaced by Real Sociedad loanee Alfreð Finnbogason.
85' The hosts look totally deflated now, as Masuaku hoofs in a cross that Mertesacker clears with ease. They have not played badly tonight, but Arsenal have simply outmatched them.
82' Arsenal get a free-kick deep in Olympiacos territory, which Ozil will take. He whips in a shot towards the near post, which Roberto - for some reason - decides to parry away rather than catch.
79' Campbell tries an ambitious cross-field pass to Gibbs, but he just over-hits it. Roberto launches a long goal-kick upfield, though Arsenal regain possession through Giroud, who is clattered into by Da Costa.
Hernâni
Sebá
Olympiakos Piraeus
77' A second substitution for Olympiacos now, as Hernâni takes the place of his compatriot Seba, who has struggled to make an impact tonight.
76' Campbell, who himself has played excellently tonight, slides another neat pass into Giroud, but the former Montpellier man is flagged offside. Olympiacos move swiftly upfield from the restart and win a free-kick, but Dominguez' delivery is straight down the throat of Cech.
K. Gibbs
T. Walcott
Arsenal
73' And there is a switch for Arsenal as well, as Walcott is replaced by Kieran Gibbs, who will take up a role in front of Monreal on the left wing.
A. Domínguez
P. Kasami
Olympiakos Piraeus
72' A first change for the hosts now as Kasami is replaced by experienced attacker Alejandro Damián Domínguez.
71' Olympiakos now need three goals - without conceding another themseleves - in order to prevent their Champions League campaign coming to an early end. Can the Greek champions mount any sort of a comeback here?
70' This has been a superb performance from Arsenal, and one that has perhaps been epitomised by Giroud. The forward's all-round play has been fantastic tonight, and he has provided the spark for what looks like the victory that will send Wenger's side into the knock-out stages of the Champions League for a 16th season running.
O. Giroud
Penalty Goal
Arsenal
67' GOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!!! Giroud seals a fine hat-trick with a composed penalty into the bottom-left corner, sending Roberto the wrong way.
O. Elabdellaoui
Yellow Card
Olympiakos Piraeus
66' PENALTY!! Kasami tries his luck from range with a half-volley, but Cech is equal to it. Arsenal get forward through Walcott, who drifts a cross to Monreal at the back post. The full-back goes for goal and is blocked by the hand of Elabdellaoui, and the referee does not hesitate in pointing straight to the spot! What a chance for Arsenal!!!
O. Giroud
Yellow Card
Arsenal
63' Giroud becomes the second Arsenal player to go into the referee's book as he fouls Pardo.
63' More brilliant work from Koscielny in defence, as he stewards the ball out of play to prevent Pardo bursting into the area. Olympiacos regain possession, though, and Sebo finds himself in-on-goal with just Cech to beat, only for Mertesacker to match the defensive efforts of his centre-back partner and prevent the Brazilian getting a shot away with a last-ditch challenge.
61' Fortounis appeals for a free-kick after he is scythed down by Campbell. The Greece international's claims were valid, but the referee is having none of it. Arsenal waste no time in lodging another assault, but Walcott is just unable to find Giroud with a threaded pass.
58' SUPERB SAVE! Fortounis drifts in from the right and curls an ambitioius effort towards the top-left corner, but Cech reacts expertly to tip the strike wide.
56' CLOSE!!! Campbell drops a great cross to the feet of Walcott at the back post, whose toe-poke is deflected just wide. The resulting corner is cleared and Olympiacos counter, but Koscielny is again on hand to prevent the hosts getting in on Cech's goal.
53' Walcott charges down the other end and wins a free-kick, though Monreal's delivery is a poor one. Olympiacos work it out from the back, but are unable to create an opening as Koscielny dispossesses Pardo.
52' CHANCE!! Siovas latches onto a corner from the right, but he directs his header straight into the greatful hands of Cech. What an opportunity that was for the hosts!
J. Campbell
Assist
Arsenal
49' It really was superb piece of play from Campbell against his former club. He held off two Olympiacos defenders before weaving his way around a thrid and sliding a lovely reverse-path into Giroud. The winger is starting to find his feet at Arsenal, it seems.
O. Giroud
Goal
Arsenal
49' GOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!!! GIROUD!!!!! The forward is definitely fit to carry on, as he latches onto the end of Campbell's superb throughball to side-foot a finish under Roberto and double his, and Arsenal's, tally!
48' A real worry for Arsenal as Giroud collapses in a heap, clutching his ankle. The physios rush on to treat the Frenchman, who eventually rises back onto his feet. It looked like he may have twisted his ankle, but he will return to the action for the moment at least.
47' Good defending by Mertesacker, who is well-placed to head away Pardo's cross after the Colombian had once again jinked his way past Monreal. Fortounis whips in the resulting corner, but Cech takes command and punches it clear.
46' Olympiacos, attacking from right to left, get the second half under way in Athens.
Wenger will be pleased with his side's display so far, and will know that patience is going to be key in this half if they are to salvage their Champions League campaign. While the visitors need just one goal at the moment, a goal for Olympiacos would mean that Arsenal would have to score twice more.
HALF-TIME! There is no stoppage time at the end of this first half, in which Arsenal have taken a 1-0 lead courtesy of Olivier Giroud's header. It means the game is well poised heading into the second period, with Arsenal still having to score at least one more goal to ensure their place in the next round.
44' Ozil again picks up possession in the pocket between Olympiacos' defence and midfield, but his pass is cut-out this time. Masuaku counters, but is brought down by Ramsey, who may have been at least momentarily concenred that he would receive a second yellow card for that foul.
42' Masuaku, whose only Champions League goal came on his Olympiacos debut against Atletico Madrid last season, tries to beat Cech with a hammer-strike from 30 yards out, but the former Chelsea goalkeeper gets down well to block the shot.
40' CLOSE! More decisive defending from Koscielny, who turns Pardo's delightful cross over the roof of the net and away for a corner that Olympiacos make nothing of. Monreal has had a really tough time coping with Pardo so far this evening, and has had to be rescued by his fellow defenders on several occasions already.
38' CHANCE! Giroud makes a brilliant curving run towards goal, taking two Olympiacos defenders away with him. That means that space opens up for Walcott, who charges to the edge of the area before trying his luck from 20 yards out, but his low strike trickles wide of the left-hand upright.
37' Remember, though, that this result would still not be enough for Arsenal to progress from Group F. It has been a near-perfect display from them so far tonight, and Giroud almost creates a clear-cut chance for Walcott with a well-timed knock-down, but the England forward had over-run it.
34' Superb hold-up play from Giroud allows Arsenal to play their way out from the back, though their hosts presurise them well and force the visitors back. Koscielny eventually decides to run it out, clattering into Milivojevic and winning a free-kick in the process.
32' Olympiacos have a corner which Pardo elects to go short from, rather than deliver a cross into the box. This allows Arsenal to clear and launch a counter-charge through Campbell. The winger stands up a cross towards the back post, but Roberto is on hand to collect it.
A. Ramsey
Assist
Arsenal
29' Ramsey prefers to play in a more central role, but loves to get forward. And the Welshman showed his versatility there, putting in a first-class cross, with Giroud applying the finish. A special mention has to go to Ozil, however, who kick-started the move with a brilliant pass.
O. Giroud
Goal
Arsenal
29' GOAAAAALLLLLLL!!! Giroud puts Arsenal ahead! Ozil slides in Ramsey down the left flank, who duly delivers a fantastic delivery to the near post. The aforementioned France forward meets the cross and powers a header goalwards, which bounces off the post and over the line off the back of Roberto.
28' That was much improved from Arsenal, who proved there that they are more than capable of getting in-behind this Olympiacos defence. Ozil drops to the edge of the area to loft in an inviting cross, but Roberto comes out to punch it clear - taking two players down with him.
26' CROSSBAR!!! Better from Arsenal! Giroud does brilliantly to shirk off his marker before sliding a throughball into the path of Campbell. The winger drives into the area and pulls a ball back to Flamini, who adjusts his feet quickly to turn a shot goalwards, but it clips off the top of the woodwork.
25' Arsenal are really struggling to get the ball into their talented attacking quartet at the moment. Giroud has barely been in the game, whie Walcott and Campbell have been forced out wide in search of more space. Ozil has looked sharp when he has had possession, but the options in front of him have been limited at best. Wenger will be looking for improvement, and fast.
22' Olympiacos are applying some real pressure now, with Koscielny again having to react sharply to scoop away Seba's cross. The clearance falls only as far as Kasami, but his cross-cum-shot sails harmlessly wide.
20' CLOSE! Fantastic work from Pardo down the right flank, who takes on Monreal before curling in a cross to the feet of Seba on the edge of Arsenal's area. The Brazilian elects to go for goal with a first-time effort, but the strike floats over the crossbar.
A. Ramsey
Yellow Card
Arsenal
18' Nice interplay between Ozil and Campbell down the left sees the latter cut in on his right foot, but the winger is unable to provide a meaningful cross. Olympiacos launch a swift counter, and Ramsey goes into the book for a late lunge on Kasami.
15' Arsenal have settled now after a fast start from the hosts, though Bellerin almost costs his side as he gives the ball away to Ideye. The striker bursts towards goal, but Ramsey makes up for his teammate's error with a brilliant sliding tackle.
13' Dreadful defending from Mertesacker as Ideye eases in behind him. The former West Brom forward gets his head up before prodding a cross back into the centre of the area, which Kosceilny does brilliantly to hook clear. Campbell - who spent a season on loan at Olympiacos back in 2013/14 - appeals for a free-kick on the edge of the box at the other end, but referee Rizzoli dismisses the Costa Rican's claims.
11' Olympiacos have won seven of their last eight home games in the Champions League - a stat that highlights just how difficult the task that faces Arsenal, who have also been decimated by injuries.
K. Fortounis
Yellow Card
Olympiakos Piraeus
10' Bellerin concedes a needless free-kick for a foul on Seba. Fortounis fizzes a pass across to Pardo, whose shot is deflected back into the path of the aforementioned Olympiacos playmaker, who takes a tumble in the box under pressure from an Arsenal defender, but the referee dismisses the penalty appeals - instead showing a yellow card to Fortounis for simulation.
7' There was a brief scare for Wenger prior to kick-off, with Ozil apparently complaining of a tight calf in the warm-up, though the Germany midfielder has been deemed fit enough to start tonight. And that decision almost pays dividends as he attempts to thread a pass throigh to Walcott, but Masuaku intercepts.
5' In the last five years, Arsenal have only won three out of 18 Champions League away games by a two goal margin - a feat they will likely need to repeat tonight. The visitors finally work it forward through Ozil, Europe's top player in terms of assists this term, but he is robbed of possession and Olympiacos counter, only for Monreal to get a timely challenge in on Pardo.
3' The home side have started brightly here, with Pardo almost carving out an early oportunity that Koscielny does well to stifle out. The Colombian has sat out the last three Olympiacos games, but returns to their line up this evening.
1' KICK-OFF! Arsenal get us under way in Athens in what is undoubtedly the biggest game of their season so far!
It is a full house here in the Athens suburb of Piraeus, and the home faithful are in full voice as referee Nicola Rizzoli prepares to get the game up and running...
There are two changes for Arsenal from their most recent Champions League fixture - a 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb at the Emirates Stadium. Both of them are enforced by injuries to key duo Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla. While the aforementioned Walcott comes in to replace Arsenal's Chilean maestro, Aaron Ramsey slots back into a central midfield role to fill the sizeable void left by the absence of Cazorla, who is likely to be out of action for up to four months with a knee-ligament injury.
The hosts tonight were beaten 4-0 by Group victors Bayern Munich in their last Champions League outing. Olympiacos coach Marco Silva makes just one change from that line up, however, with vetran midfielder Esteban Cambiasso dropping to the bench - the more attack-minded Konstantinos Fortunis taking his place.
TEAM NEWS – Arsenal Substitutes: Debuchy, Gibbs, Gabriel, Ospina, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chambers, Iwobi.
TEAM NEWS – Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Cech; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal; Flamini, Ramsey; Walcott, Ozil, Campbell; Giroud.
TEAM NEWS – Olympiacos Substitutes: Botia, Finnbogason, Dominguez, Salino, Kapino, Hernani, Cambiasso.
TEAM NEWS – Olympiacos (4-2-3-1): Roberto; Elabdellaoui, Da Costa, Siovas, Masuaku; Kasami, Milivojevic; Seba, Fortounis, Pardo; Ideye.
One boost for Arsenal ahead of kick-off is the return of Theo Walcott. The forward was not risked from the start against Sunderland last time out, but he takes his place in the starting line-up for tonight's vital encounter. Can the England man be the player to secure a place in the next round?
However, even an Arsenal victory does not guarantee them a spot in the next round. A score of 1-0 or 2-1 to the visitors will not be enough for Wenger's side to avoid finding themselves competing in the Europa League after Christmas.
Arsenal come into tonights match knowing that nothing less than a victory will be enough to see them through to the knock-out stages for a 16th consecutive campaign. Arsene Wenger's men sit on six points in Group F, while their oponents this eveing - whose 3-2 victory over the North London side back in September was their first on English soil - have accumulated nine points from their five matches.
Hello and welcome to this LIVE text commentary, as Olympiacos take on Arsenal in the final round of Champions League group stage fixtures. Stay right here for all the action as it happens from the Stadio Georgios Karaiskaki!
