Kaizer Chiefs will host SuperSport United at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon hoping to maintain their astonishing Nedbank Cup record.

The Soweto giants are unbeaten in the competition under the stewardship of coach Stuart Baxter, and they went on to beat Matsatsantsa in the final on May 2013. They have won this tournament a record number of 13 times since its inception.

United, meanwhile, see this competition as their last chance of handing Cavin Johnson his first piece of silverware as their head coach this season, having failed to keep up with the likes of Sundowns, Wits as well as Chiefs in the race for the league title.

The Tswane outfit lifted the very same Nedbank Cup in 2012 after defeating neighbours Sundowns in the final, and they are looking to reach their third final in three consecutive seasons.

AmaKhosi are going through a rough patch at the moment, losing two of their last two league games at home for the first time since 2012, and they haven't been convincing in Cup competitions this season either.

Baxter's side were knocked out of the Telkom Knockout Cup by Platinum Stars at the very same venue - FNB Stadium - this season, a few weeks after losing 1-0 to Orlando Pirates in the MTN 8 first leg semi-final.

Johnson's men are more than capable of exposing Chiefs' weaknesses at the back where they lack pace. Thuso Phala is expected to cause all sorts of problems with his blistering runs into dangerous areas.

Phala, who had a disappointing career at Chiefs between 2007 and 2009, used to torment his former employers during his time at Platinum Stars and his presence on the pitch will be vital for the men from Tshwane.

The Naturena-based side will still be without Knowledge Musona for this encounter, but how they defend against United will be more important on the day and they will look to their goalkeeper and skipper Itumeleng Khune.

Khune has conceded two goals in his last two games since returning from an ankle injury, and he will be eager to keep his first clean-sheet and help his team bounce back in style.
