D. Klate 12'
The Soweto Derby is back to its exicitng best after today's match. A cracking match was edged by Pirates in the end, with Daine Klate's stupendous goal separating the sides. Thanks for joining Goal South Africa for all the action this afternoon. For any post-match reaction comments tweet me @Dan0090
90' + 4'
That's it! The whistle has gone and Pirates are 1-0 winners at Soccer City!
90' + 2'
Two minutes left in the match. Chiefs are making the final stages quite enthralling.
90' + 1'
MUSONA!! What a chance! The striker glides past two defenders with some neat footwork but his shot is too soft and badly placed meaning Meyiwa can make the save.
Two chances for Chiefs! Mashaimaite storms forward to unleash a low shot and Meyiwa's save is poor, allowing for Chiefs to manufacture another chance with Nkhatha trying to bend the ball past the keeper but his shot goes wide.
MUSONA! The striker shows his natural ability to find space in the box, but his left-footed stirke is not on target.
Manti Molemo Moholo
Pirates make their final change of the afternoon by bringing on Moholo for Myeni.
Tshabalala finds some space to shoot with his left foot and blazes an effort off target. Heart in mouth stuff for Pirates fans there as Chiefs came close to an equaliser.
Mandla Masango has replaced Lebese as Chiefs seek to add some more life into their attacking play.
GABUZA. Segolela hits a powerful cross into the area but the debutant cannot send his header into the back of the net from point blank range.
Pirates are dominating possession and the midfield. Chiefs cannot hang onto the ball. A second goal seems imminent for the Buccaneers.
ERASMUS! So close to a second for Pirates! Segolela drives a cross into the area and Erasmus powers a header towards goal which seems to have taken a deflection to make it go just wide past the right post.
Pirates bring on Erasmus, who is a definite goal threat, but is not as industrious in defence which may give Chiefs more chances to find the equaliser.
Kermit Erasmus is about to make an appearance for Pirates and he will replace Daine Klate who is still suffering from the knock he picked up earlier.
TSHABALALA! A thunderbolt from the winger is somehow blocked by Meyiwa, but the rebound lands into the dreadlocked midfielder's path once more and his second attempt is stifled by Pirates' defenders. Pirates are inviting Chiefs to attack them now.
Kingston Nkhatha comes on for Bernard Parker for the last twenty minutes.
Bernard Melvin Parker
Matlaba smashes a shot into the stands which is followed by a chorus of boos. Chiefs break with pace and Musona tries another shot which skews wide. Breathtaking stuff out there.
PARKER! Fantastic combination play with Musona ends with a volleyed attempt from the striker which hits the post and luckily finds Meyiwa's gloves. Inches away from a goal there.
Lennox Luyanda Bacela
Thamsanqa Aubrey Gabuza
Klate is on the floor and looks to be in pain. He has been stretchered off and will be treated on the sidelines. On comes the debutant Gabuza for Bacela. It will be interesting to see how the Buccaneer's new striker performs in such an important match.
Yellow Card Senzo Meyiwa
A cross is floated into Pirates' box and Meyiwa is strong enough in the air to punch the ball away. Chiefs try again via Gaxa, who hits a shot wide with his weaker left boot. Seconds later Meyiwa is booked for time wasting. A bit early for such things surely?
With thirty minutes to go, Chiefs are searching for a way to unlock Pirates' steely defensive unit. This away goal could prove vital in Pirates' quest to reach the MTN8 final.
Musona's attempted elbowing of Lucky Lekghwati is not seen by the referee and the striker could find himself in hot water with the PSL come Monday morning.
Yellow Card Rooi Petros Mahamutsa
Mahamutsa is yellow-carded for holding Musona back after Gaxa began a promising move for Chiefs with an electric run down the right wing. The resulting free kick is flicked on by Mathoho into the box and almost finds a Chiefs player.
BACELA! Segolela's mazey runs continue to hurt Chiefs as he bursts towards the box before providing Bacela with a square ball, who hits a shot with the side of his foot straight into the grateful grasp of Khune.
Segolela is released down the left and hits a cross into the area but it is not strong enough and Khune collects with ease.
Musona tries to go for goal with a spectacular effort, but his volley goes wide. He is certainly not afriad to shoot out there.
MUSONA! A floating cross finds the Zimbabwean free on the left hand side of the box, but he doesn't strike his shot cleanly and it goes wide.
Klate and Mahatmutsa clashed in their own box and the central defender has come off second best and is being treated.
Musona collects the ball on his chest inside the area, but uses his arm in the process before hitting a volley over the crossbar.
Here we go! The second 45 is underway in the FNB Stadium.
The second half is almost underway! Knowledge Musona is coming on for the second half - a clear indication of Chief's belief in the player. He replaces Majoro.
Daine Klate's wondrous free kick seperates the sides, which followed Pirates early domination of this match. Chiefs have started to look more threatening which could set up a sparkling second half. Stay with Goal South Africa and rejoin us in 15 minutes for the second half. Any comments on the match so far? Tweet me @Dan0090
45' + 2'
That's it! The referee blows the whistle and it is half time.
45' + 1'
Both sides create half chances at either end of the pitch by using the long ball as a defence-splitting pass.
Two minutes of time to be added on at the end of the first half in Soccer City.
CLOSE FOR CHIEFS! Gaxa drills a low cross into the area, which Mahamutsa tries to clear but he mis-times his kick and the ball almost flies into the back of the net. The corner kick finds Gaxa once more, but the right-back does not strike a volley cleanly and it goes out for a goal kick.
Klate squares the ball for Myeni who tries to smash an effort towards goal but the ball skews off his boot and goes wide.
Gaxa fouls Klate who stays on the floor. The referee decides to book the full-back for what looked like a rather malicious challenge.
Yellow Card Siboniso Pa Gaxa
Parker continues to try long-range shots and continues to hit his efforts high and wide. Chiefs are under pressure and might be hoping for a moment of magic to get them back into the game.
Meyiwa makes a comfortable save in his first real action of the first half. Chiefs will want to test the keeper far more as this match continues.
Segolela drills another cross into the area after a good passage of play for Pirates. Khune collects the cross but almost spills the ball in yet more nervy moments from the keeper.
Chiefs try to strike back through a Lebese shot, which bounces around the area off a few defenders before finding Tshabalala down the right, whose attempted cross in blocked.
Myeni's scintillating pace helps him find space down the left flank, but Tshabalala fouls the winger to stop his run from causing any more damage. Pirates do not make use of free kick opportunity in their first moment of poor play in this first half.
Yellow Card Willard Katsande
Shots are being unleashed on both sides of the pitch as Parker tries another effort from range.
Segolela uses his strength to surge towards goal but decides to shoot instead of providing an unmarked Bacela with a square pass, incurring the wrath of his teammate.
Chiefs win a free kick which angers Rooi Mahamutsa, but Parker's effort crashes into the wall and out for a corner. Tshabalala drives his corner kick long allowing for Pirates to break.
Segolela tricks his way past Gaxa with some sublime play and finds Bacela with a low cross, but Chiefs are able to clear. Pirates pick up possession once again after the clearance and Manyisa tries a powerful drive from outside the box, which ricotches off a defender and almost into the path of Bacela, but Khune finally grabs hold of the ball. Pirates are dominating and Stuart Baxter looks rather concerned.
Mathoho is on the floor after a Myeni shot crashes into his midriff. Manyisa continues to play on despite the injury and hits another shot high and wide.
Parker tries a shot from far out, but he doesn't time his shot and it flies high over the goal.
More players swarm around after Majoro is fouled by Jele, who is given a yellow card for the tackle. There is a real edge about this Soweto Derby so far.
Yellow Card Happy Jele
Mathoho tries a shot from range but his effort goes wide as Chiefs try to find a way back into the game. Pirates are playing free-flowing confident football which is a joy to watch at the moment. Chiefs will need to up their game.
Pirates continue to pile on the pressure as they win another corner which almost finds Bacela in the box.
Yellow Card Lennox Luyanda Bacela
Goal Daine Klate
GOAL!!!! KLATE SCORES! Pirates have the lead. I said he was a deadly free kick taker. His effort curls around the wall and beats Khune for pace as the keeper gets a slight touch on the shot before it crashes into the back of the net.
Mathoho is foxed by Bacela and Pirates have a free kick in a very promising area for the deadly Daine Klate.
BACELA!! So close for Pirates! The striker shows his pace to get to the ball after it rebounded off his legs into the box. He tries to unleash a shot, but a desperate challenge from Masilela blocks his attempt.
Segolela floats in a cross from the left flank and Khune shows a moment of indecision against the high ball, almost allowing for a Pirates striker to pounce.
Pirates are looking sharper out there so far. This is Chiefs' first match in 14 days which means they could be suffering from a bit of rustiness, while the Buccaneers have been heavily involved in their Caf Champions League efforts.
Drama on the pitch as Katsande fells Segolela with a studs up challenge. Pirates and Chiefs players swarm as an argument ensues and Katsande is booked for the tackle.
Daine Klate is already looking dangerous as he bursts down the left hand side of midfield and beats two defenders, but his cross is blocked and Pirates win a corner. Manyisa's delivery is poor and Chiefs break through the pace of Letsholonyane, but are unable to make use of the counter-attack.
Here we go! Chiefs kick off the Soweto Derby!
The players are out on the pitch and we're almost underway in Soweto.
