A. Waris 18'
K. Asamoah 61'
N. Sinkala 74'
90' + 5'
It's all over. Ghana 2-1 Zambia. Waris and Asamoah scored for the Black Stars while Sinkala pulled one back for the Copper Bullets. Kwesi Appiah's side are through to the final hurdle where 10 teams will play in a play-off for Brazil 2014. Thank you and see you some other time.
90' + 4'
A Ghanaian player is down at the moment. That is Afful but game is still ongoing. The referee is not in for any delay tactics. Game resumes and the Zambians will still have to keep knocking. Brilliant save from Dauda
90' + 1'
Dauda is down on the pitch now. Kwesi Appiah has taken advantage to brief his players, hopefully on what to do to avoid an draw. Dauda is back on his feet now, but looks as if he is in pain.
Corner kick for Zambia. That could be their last chance to equalise, at least. Ball effected and there is another corner. Dauda comes out, loses the ball but manages to save a rebound. Four minutes of time added on. That looks long, trust me :)
Essien is got a lot of strength. He is really on top of his game and proving a boundary to the Zambian midfielders. A perfect match for him to show what he's got after a long hiatus from the national team
Free kick. The Zambians have pushed all their men up. Ball cleared and Atsu races towards the Zambian half but has tripped. Ghana have four more minutes to go in wild jubilation
Essien with a long cross towards the Zambian post but has been headed out. The Chipolopolo with the ball now. Great shot at goal but ball cleared. What a relief for the Black Stars.
SUBSTITUTIONS: Gyan passes on the captain's band to Essien. The Al Ain striker has been replaced by Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu. James Chamanga came on for Davies Nkausu for the Zambians
Waris fouled right at the edge of the Zambian box. Free kick to Ghana. Ayew behind the ball now. That has been wasted
Yellow Card Harrison Afful
Ayew up against five men. Excellent tackle from the Zambian defender. Ball in Ghana's half now
Goal Nathan Sinkala
Temporal hold up now. Waris and a Zambian keeper are down and need attention from the medical personnel
Sinkala caught Dauda off guard. He shoots from the edge of the box from a corner to beat Ghana's keeper. That was a beautiful goal.
GOOOOOOOOOAL.... Zambia have pulled one back.
Mine oh mine, the Black Stars are good. The whole Ghana is in a state of ecstasy. The Zambians have 20 minutes to redeem their image. But it's a lovely game to watch now.
Great solo from Ayew; cuts through the Zambian defense. Neat cross towards Essien but no there is no one to connect. The Zambians are really in for a match. Ghana are on fire now. The noise is deafening. They are almost through tot he final round
Another thunderbolt from Asamoah. The stadium is on fire now. Mweene clears it to the corner area
Goal Kwadwo Asamoah
What a strike, what a goal and how amazing that was from the Juventus midfielder. He fired from 25-yard straight into the lower left corner of Mweene whose spread could not even thwart the goal-bound ball. Ghana are two goals up now.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL. KWADWO ASAMOAH. GHANA 2-0 ZAMBIA
Kwesi Appiah may make another change. Samuel Inkoom, who moved from Dnipro as a free agent, might change Opare
Katongo looks determined to equalise for his side but he is receiving serious resistance from Boye, who assisted Ghana's goal. The introduction of Tembo is causing a lot of problems for the Ghanaian defense.
Tembo shooooooooooooots and what an excellent save from Fatau Dauda.
Yellow Card Daniel Opare
SUBSTITUTION: Essien in, Rabiu out. Wakaso out and Chelsea's new signing Christian Atsu in. The substitution of Rabiu comes with a huge surprise though.
Essien is warming up now to a thunderous cheer. The Ghanaians need an experience player in the middle.
The Black Stars need to be extra careful. The Zambian strikers are piling on the pressure. Well, Asamoah with the ball now and he finds Ayew who fires towards goal but that was poor.
The 2012 Africa champions are showing that they are not done yet. Ghana are under PRESSURE. They have come into the second half with a different game plan.
The Zambians have made a change already and that is their second. Defender Hichani Himonde out, Fwayo Tembo in
The second half is on now with Ghana kicking it off
Referee whistles for half time. Ghana 1-0 Zambia. As it stands the Black Stars are through to the final round of the qualifiers, but they have 45 more minutes to cement that spot. Stay glued for the second half soon. We'll be happy to hear your reactions, predictions about the game via our Twitter handle: @Goal_ghana
The Zambians are making their first change. Joseph Musonda is out and Emmanuel Mbola is in now.
Two minutes of time added on. Can the Zambians reply before the interval? Let's wait and see.
A Zambian is out now receiving treatment. Looks like is Sinzu. His coach is not a happy man at all. He is in his usual white long-sleeve shirt and a jeans trousers to match.
Wow!!! lovely display by Ayew. The Marseille midfielder who is making a return to the team after six-month absence beats two defenders and eventually earns a free kick for Ghana. But that has been wasted.
The Zambians are dictating the pace of the game now. Dauda has been tested from far and he fumbles to glove it. He follows up to keep it at last.
Coach Herve Renard looks so tensed, but focused in the dugout whiles his colleague on the other side Kwesi Appiah is shouting instructions from the touchline.
Once again Dauda's judgement has come under scrutiny. He comes off his line to clear the ball and ended up falling but thanks goodness the ball has been shot towards the Zambian half.
Good tackle from Jonathan Mensah outside the box. Throw in for Zambia. But they failed to yield any dividend from it.
Ghana have a free kick on the edge of the 18-yard box. Gyan has been brought down. Great opportunity for Ghana to double their lead. Wakasoooo.... that was off. Ball misses the post by inches. Ghana still in the lead.
Gooa.... oh no. That was a blast. Gyan could have made it two for Ghana with a piledriver from his left foot and the visitors have goalkeeper Mweene to thank who tipped it off his post.
The Zambians have a corner now. Well flighted. Goalkeeper Dauda off his post now and missed it. He has to thank his guardsmen for clearing the danger. Dauda needs to watch his anticipation for aeriel balls else it will spell doom for Ghana.
Harrison Afful falls in and communicates well with Waris up front. He crosses the ball towards the Moscow forward, but that header was off target. The Ghanaians mean business. Loads of pressure on the Zambian defense.
Free kick to Zambia. Katongo and Kalaba behind the ball. Ball flighted into the Ghana danger zone, but Wakaso was on hand to clear the danger.
Goal Abdul Majeed Waris
Assist John Boye
Great display by John Boye the Ghana defender. He missed a clear header, chased the ball, grabs it with a few inches to go beyond the line and volleys towards Waris who heads beyond goalkeeper Mweene. Ghana in the lead now.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!! Ghana in the lead. Majeeeeeeeeed Waris with the opening goal. The Russian-based striker has made it.
There is an infringement in favour of Ghana. Wakaso behind the ball. He lobs the ball into the Chipolopolo's 18-yard box but it has been cleared.
Kwadwo Asamoah is surging forwarding. Goes between two Zambian midfielders. Gyan with the ball and what can he do, awww he has been brought down but referee signals play on. The game is settling now
Great attack initiated by Daniel Opare. He manages to connect to Waris who then spots Gyan in the danger zone. Ooops, the Al Ain striker heads way too high above Mweene's post.
Great telepathy between Gyan and Kwadwo Asamoah. The Juventus midfielder has been so creative and frustrating the Zambians. He has been brought down. Ball crossed to Wakaso in the box but he was too late to reach it.
Chaaance!!! Oh that was way too wide from Majeed Waris. He has been mobile so far in this game
A lot of short passes in the Ghana back. Opare blast the ball toward Warris but fails to land on his feet. Mweene clears his post and ball resumes at the Ghana half.
The Zambians are now overawed by the huge home fans. They are really asking questions in the Ghana back. The game is yet to settle. Free kick to Ghana now in the centre. Ball connects to returnee Ayew, who heads towards goal but Mweene anticipated well.
There is an infringement already against Ghana. Jonathan Mensah brings down Mayuka. Ghana forms a wall and the ball lands straight into the Black Stars wall. Go on...
And we are off in the deciding Group D game between Ghana and Zambia.
Hello, good afternoon and welcome to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi where the much-anticipated clash between Ghana - Zambia is taking place. Expect a tension-packed game between these two teams as the Chipolopolo need a win whiles the Black Stars want just a draw to make it to the play-off stages of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
It's a full house at the fortress of the four-time Africa champions. The players have emerged from the tunnel and here's the line-up now for the long-awaited encounter.
