Games between Ghana and Chile at any level in football have been few with the last meeting between these two football nations at junior level coming two decades ago in the semi-finals of the Fifa Under-17 World Cup in Japan where the Black Starlets thrashed the South Americans 3-0 in Tokyo on September 1, 1993.

The Black Satellites got to the last eight after seeing off favourites Portugal via a 3-2 scoreline and they are bent on maintaining the momentum now that they seem to have found their rhythm after qualifying from the group stage as one of the best third-placed teams.

The South Americans also got this far with an inspiring 2-0 win over Croatia in the round of 16 after placing second in group E with a 2-1 win over African champions Egypt, drawing 1-1 with England and losing 2-1 to minnows Iraq.

Chile scored four goals and conceded the same amount of goals in their first three matches; two of those goals came from danger man Nicolas Castillo whilst Ghana also scored five and conceded five with Ebenezer Assifuah also scoring twice.

Castillo was also on target against Croatia to take his tally to three in a game that saw him at the thick of affairs together with compatriots Martinez and Hernandez.

Coach Sellas Tetteh is likely to stick to the same team which beat Portugal 3-2 meaning Richmond Boakye-Yiadom and midfielder Michael Anaba who grabbed both goals to see Ghana through will have to start from the bench.

One area in the Satellites team which is leaking has been the right side of defense where Richmond Nketiah operates and if care is not taken players such as Christian Cuevas and Mario Larenas will have a field day there.

Skipper Lawrence Lartey and his central defensive partner Joseph Attamah Lawerh will also have to be at their best and watch their timing and positioning if they are to curtail star striker Castillo.

Both teams have the physique and the game promises to be an end-to-end affair with the side who will take chances carrying the day.
