Free State Stars 2-1 AmaZulu: Stars end their seven match winless streak

Free State Stars got back to winning ways as they beat AmaZulu 2-1 with goals coming from Moeketsi Mvula and Danny Vanter

Both the teams came into this match searching for results especially Stars who had played seven games without a win.

In the 20th minute Wome had an opportunity to put the ball into the net, but he chose to hit straight to goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini.

Wome kept on trying his luck, but Willem Mwedihanga and Luyanda Hlongwa were in control at the back. In the 30th Goodman Dlamini was through when Stars backline made a mistake. He received a ball that he was supposed to trap and finish but he couldn’t control it.

Goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene was not given much of a challenge by striker Dlamini as most of his shots had no significant power. In 43th minute Mvula took his opportunity when he scored the first goal for Stars which came from a corner.

In the second half, Steve Kompela made a super sub as he replaced Danny Vanter for Katlego Mashego. He scored a great goal by beating Kapini from a ball which was received from Daniel Cordoso.

AmaZulu also brought in Joseph Malongoane into the scene and his presence was effective as he came close to scoring in the 80th minute.

After that Ayanda Dlamini was brought down just outside the box which saw AmaZulu getting a free kick. That set piece was well taken by Kagiso Senamela who beat the Free State Stars goalkeeper to record his first goal this year.
